Pediatric chiropractic care can help a child’s nervous system function properly. By having a healthy working nervous system, we can promote healthy growth and development in kids.
Our Approach to Pediatric Chiropractic
Our goal is to promote proper growth and development in our pediatric patients. Pediatric care is an essential way for parents to help their children to heal naturally. We treat postural imbalances that may develop after birth trauma or in school age kids by restoring normal function and decreasing discomfort. Dr. Kati is our St. George pediatric chiropractor. She has special training by the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association so your child can receive the best possible care.
How Did My Kid Get Misaligned?
Pregnancy is a journey for both mom and baby. A German doctor, Dr. Godfrey Gutmann, conducted a study of 1,000 newborns shortly after birth. He found that over 80% of infants had suffered an injury to their neck, which resulted in the need for chiropractic care. Trauma during birth can show up in many different forms, such as:
– Assisted delivery by forceps, vacuum, or pulling/twisting of an infant
– C-section due to lack of progress
– Cervix failing to dilate
– Restricted birthing positions
These traumas can affect an infant’s development if they are left untreated. Added stress on the nervous system can lead to torticollis, nursing difficulties, and colic. We aim to help parents and infants deal with the after-effects of birth trauma physically and emotionally.
Your Pediatric Visit With US
When pediatric patients come into our office, their visit is very different from an adult visit. We use low force when assessing and adjusting infants and children. The pressure we use is the same pressure used to check the ripeness of a tomato. There is no “cracking” when infants are getting adjusted. Education is key to any treatment. We make sure to explain and describe everything that is happening during a visit. Parents are a big part of an infant’s well being. Therefore, they are a big part of our treatment plans. Our goal is to empower and provide parents with the knowledge to help their children at home. At home, care can be stretches, exercises, or lifestyle modifications. We are all in this together.
